OUT AND ABOUT
JOTTINGS FROM WAR FRONT Jottings from the Nelson Loan front have been forwarded by the Nelson District War Loan Committee: — Street Sales One very pleasing feature of the War Loan campaign has been the result of the street stalls. The total sales from this source up to last evening was £2,516, while from Mr Gould’s caravan, no less than £1,400 in bonds have been disposed of. Provided the improvement in the weather is maintr.ned, the proceeds from those voluntary helpers should materially assist in attaining the target for the city. Takaka Offensive Sergeant-Major Ovens did good work among the various National Savings Groups during his two-day visit. Last Wednesday was your record day, Takaka, investments totalling £1,775, bringing you within reach of £IO,OOO. Keep it up; only 15 days to go. Remember that money lodged in the National Savings account helps the loan, and. if deposited on or before the 30th of Juno, may be withdrawn any time after 30th June, 1945. The workers at Tarakohe, with their target of £2,500, are going to set a standard that will be difficult to beat. Upper Moutere Hard work coupled with enthusiasm will carry you through to your target, Upper Moutere. Your committee are possessed of these attributes. Those people from Sunrise and Supplejack are going to swell your figure. You can look for a lot of support from Mahana, Harakeke, Mafiri, Braeburn, Lower Moutere and Tasman. The hopgrowers’ happy day has certainly passed, but it was a wet one. They will be “hopping” along on the first fine day. Yes, your Postmaster will take it. Invest those cheques, hop-growers. Motueka The Army with a loud-speaking apparatus will be in High street, Motueka, to-night. Get to it, Motueka.
