GENERAL ELECTION
HURUNUISEAT CHOICE OF NATIONAL CANDIDATE Christchurch, This Day. Captain Richard Bethell, who is serving with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East, has consented to be nominated for selection as a candidate in the National Party interests for the Hurunui seat at present held by Mr G. W. Forbes , who is not seeking rejection. Captain Bethell. who is 37 years of age, enlisted when the war began, but was selected to train for a commission and finally left New Zealand in 1940 with the 3rd Echelon. He served in Greece and in the Libyan campaigns and was mentioned in dispatches.
PAHIATUA CANDIDATE
Wellington, This Day. Mrs L. N. B. Boyle has decided to contest the Pahiatua seat as an Independent candidate at the forthcoming general elections. Mrs Boyle, who has taught in the Woodville, Norsewood, Ormondville, Porangahau and Dannevirke districts, is at present an employee of the Ministry of Supply.—P.A.
