INCREASED HOSPITAL PAYMENT
OPERATING FROM Ist APRIL LAST (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. The increased social security payment to hospital boards of 9s a day for inpatients instead of the former 6s is to operate from Ist April last, states the Minister of Health. Mr Hospital boards, he added, should amend demands on local authorities in order that this reduction may be passed on to ratepayers/So far as private hospital patients were concerned the increased amount would be deducted from their accounts, beginning from the first of next month, but patients who had been discharged from private hospitals between Ist April and 30th June could apply to the Medical Officer of Health of their district for the additional 3s per day to which they are now entitled.
