GERMAN ARMY
FIREPOWER TO BE INCREASED DWINDLING RESERVE OF SEASONED TROOPS (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) Rugby, June 23. A Stockholm message says Germany is increasing the fifepower of her army as part of the effort to offset the dwindling reserve of seasoned troops, reports “Tidningen’s” Berlin correspondent. Instead of every tenth soldier being equipped with the mortar type of mac-hine-gun equivalent in firepower to 83 rifles, every fourth man will be so armed. Reich factories are still manufacturing large quantities of war material, but the manpower problem is becoming more critical. The Germans will also try to exceed the Allied motoi’ised and aerial forces’ striking power.
