SUMMARY OF BUSINESS
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES LAND BILL TO BE INTRODUCED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. Forty-eight members so far have taken part in the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives. Of these 31 have been Government members, 15 Opposition, one Independent and one Democratic Labour. Three Ministers were among yesterday’s speakers. Features in the Debate were reference by the Minister of Education, Mr H. G. R. Mason, to a revision of secondary schools’ syllabus, a survey by the Minister of Works, Mr R. Semple, of the large volume of defence construction since Japan’s entry into the war and Mr Semple’s emphatic declaration that a Land Bill would be coming down designed to prevent land aggregation and speculation. He indicated that provision would be made for sales to be conducted on a productive value of land plus cost of improvements. The House adjourned at 10 p.m. until this afternoon.
