GERMAN TROOP MOVEMENTS ATHENS AREA TAKEN OVER ITALIANS TO REINFORCE HOME FORCES London, April 30. German units are arriving in Bulgaria, says “The Tiipes” Istanbul correspondent. Road signs in German are erected along the Bulgarian roads leading from the Danubian ports of Hustchuk and Lom to Bulgaria. Reports detail how three German divisions passed through Bulgaria and proceeded southwards towards Greece, especially in the direction of the coast of Greece, between Dedeagach and Salonika. The divisional staffs of these divisions have already arrived at Salonika which is German headquarters in the Balkans. In addition tanks and war material are being sent from Germany for the Bulgarian army, which at present number about seventeen mobilised divisions, but are deficient in equipment. According to the Hellenic News Service at Cairo, Italians are leaving the Athens region to reinforce Italy’s home forces. The report adds that the Germans announced they are taking over the Athens area from now on.—P.A.
