APRIL WEATHER
REVIEW FOR MONTH April this year was a much wetter month than the corresponding month of last year. A total of 3.72 inches of rain fell during the month, compared with 1.51 in April last year. There was a period of warm fine weather at the beginning of the month, but later there was a cold spell with falls of snow on the ranges and heavy rain. No frosts have been recorded in Nelson so far this winter, although both last year and in the previous one the first frosts of the winter were experienced during April. The sunshine for the month amounted to an average figure, the total being 206 hours 39 minutes, which compares favourably with the 193 hours 10 minutes recorded in April, 1942. The daily average of sunshine was 6 hours 53 minutes.
The month concluded with a succes' sion of clear, crisp days of bright sum shine, with cool night temperatures.
