MAY PLAY FOR SCOTLAND
N.Z. AIRMAN IN RUGBY TRIALS (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) London, Feb. 8. Flying Officer Eric Grant, of Gisborne, who captained the R.N.Z.A.F. Rugby team throughout the season, did not play for New Zealand against the Australians on Saturday, for he was picked for the Scottish trials. He played for the Rest in the first half against Scotland as right centre. In the second half he played for Scotland in the same position, scoring a try and paving the way for two others. Scotland won 33-6. He may be picked for Scotland. Grant has played good football throughout the season and the New Zealanders certainly missed him against the Australians. Their back line was inclined to be slow and flat-footed, not penetrating. They needed his dash and determination. — P.A. Special Correspondent.
