BRAVE SCIENTIST
LIFE LOST IN EXPERIMENT London, Dec. 7. Although he knew that big risks were involved in the experiment, a young scientist carried out vitally important secret tests. The scientist, David Howard Milton Horner, aged 23, was killed, but he did not lose his life in vain. The experiment provided valuable information. An inquest was held in London. Much of the evidence was taken in camera, but before the press representatives were excluded it was said that the experiment was a proper one, although dangerous. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death from fracture of the skull, adding that no blame attached to anyone. “These dangerous things have to be done,” he stated, “but I have no doubt those in authority will take every possible step to make them easier.” It was said that ways and means to do this were being considered.
