OCCUPIED EUROPE

HATRED OF AXIS RULE DISCONTENT IN ALBANIA London, Nov. 25. Italian quisling leaders in Albania are imposing incessant drastic measures but are failing to curb Albanians’ discontent and animosity, says the “Daily Telegraph’s” Istanbul correspondent. Demonstrations against Italians in Tirana are frequent. Guerrillas daringly penetrated the guarded capital, and compelled the Blackshirt militia to retreat and killed 167 Italian soldiers camped in a churchyard in the centre of the city. The Italian authorities in Tirana are baffled because public servants who have sworn loyalty to the Fascist regime are now helping the insurgents. Two battalions of Albanian militia from Koritza mutinied and fled to the mountains with their equipment and joined the guerrillas.— P.A.
