GALA DAY AT RICHMOND

MANY ATTRACTIONS The newly elected Patriotic Committee at Richmond has been busy for .some weeks preparing for a Gala Day in aid of Patriotic Funds to be held at the School grounds on Saturday, 12th December. Some new attractions are being provided both in competitions and for the entertainment of the public. Children are to be catered for in sports and a novel poster competition offers scope for the artistic abilities of both primary scholars and College pupils. Men are to have an opportunity of displaying their greater physical powers in a tug-of-war and some teams for this are already in the offing. The ladies and mothers in particular, will no doubt be attracted by the best baby competition. Groups representing the Plunket Committee, the W.D.F.U., the Women’s Institute and the W.W.S.A. are each preparing to challenge the best baby put up by either of the other organisations. The decision in this event will be made by popular vote on, the day of the gala, but tickets are being issued for immediate business in support of the respective candidates.
