The Director cf National Service lodged an appeal in respect of H. L. Gibbs, a lines serviceman employed by the Post and Telegraph Department. The Chief Postmaster, Nelson, gave evidence that reservist was engaged at present upon defence work. The appeal was adjourned sine die. A review of an appeal for another P. and T. Department employee, R. W. Saunderson, was heard, and the appeal adjourned sine die. An appeal by F. L. N. Newport was reviewed by the board. The appeal was supported by the Ngatimoti Primary Production Committee. The board granted a sine die adjournment. The Nelson Freezing Co., Ltd., appealed for three employees. B. P. McFarlane, aged 18 years, was fireman and assistant in the engineroom. P. C. G. Lusty was employed as siaughterhor 2 assistant all ttn year round W. Hart was stockman at the works. ’ His work was also full-time.

The appeals in respect of all three employees were adjourned sine die. The appeals by the Nelson Freezing Co., Ltd., in respect of W. I. Thompson and M. J. Crackett were reviewed and adjourned sine die subject to reservists going into camp for four months from July to October inclusive.

The Nelson Fire Board appealed in respect of A. J. Drummond, fire brigade superintendent at Nelson. The appeal was adjourned sirw die.

The fire brigade superintendent appealed in respect of C. H. Scholfield, a member of the auxiliary fire brigade. a married man with six children Reservist supported the appeal on the grounds of undue hardship. The appeal was adjourned sine die. The Nelson Education Board appealed in respect of four school-teachers. J. J. Caskie, H. W. Gaudin, E. R. Kemp, and H. E. McConchie. Reservist Caskie. a married man. grade one. was the sole teacher at the Spring Grove school. He was a captain in the Home Gpard in the Waimea district. Gaudin. graded C2, was senior as condary assistant in the Motueka District High School. Kemp was first assistant at the Hampden Street School. He was also graded C.2. McConchie was head teacher at Foxhill School and a grade 2 man. He was a sergeant in the Home Guard. The appeals in respect of all four reservists were adjourned sine die.
