AWAKE N.Z. CAMPAIGN

NELSON BRANCH COMMITTEE MEETING A report on the progress made in securing equipment for the Home Guard was made at a committee meeting of the Awake New Zealand Campaign in Nelson. The purchase of material for stretcher pillows for the use of the medical platoon was authorised and lady members offered to make up the material. Bandages had been purchased also four tent flys and a hot water can Timber for equipment boxes is to he .purchased and the boxes made by members of the Medical Platoon. The j donation of telephones and a brace a spade, a pick axe, a teapot, four bread | knives and a copper were reported. The I Purchase of material for the making of | a number o{ ground shoe's was authorj ised. A further lot of spades, axes saws and shovels from the P.W.D. was also reported The secretary reported a credit bank balance of £7B 19s 3d. Cash donations had totalled £156 Bs. and £7O 3s 8d had been expended on Home Guard eouioment. HOME GUARD SERVICE BY MINERS A recent statement bv ihe Minister of Industrial Manpower that all miner.* were not exempt from Home Guard training was discussed.
