The Pygmies alluded to by Homer, a race of diminutive men know'ti to the ancients, and whose existence was insisted upon by Aristotle, were substan tial realities. In later times they were looked upon as myths, but they are now known as Negritos and Negrilles. The Negritos are found in New’ Guinea and on many of the South Pacific Is lands, w’hile the Negrilles are an Afri can race. Even the Bushmen of the Cape and the Hottentots may be classed as Pygmies.
