LIBEL ACTION
SUCCESSFUL DEFENCE BY MR CHURCHILL New York, Oct. 21. The Prime Minister, Mr Churchill, has won a judgment dismissing a 1,000,000-dollar libel action which was brought by William Griffin, publisher of the New York “Enquirer.” which is now under an indictment for conspiracy to lower the morale of the armed forces. The judgment awarded to Mr Churchill 103 dollars 85 cents, representing the costs of defending the action. Griffin brought a suit in 1939 alleging that Mr Churchill had repudiated an interview with Griffin in 1936 in which Mr Churchill, it was alleged, declared it was a mistake for the United States to enter the World War.
