PATROLS IN MIDDLE EAST (Rec. 9.40 a.m.) Rugby, Oct. 5. A Cairo communique reports: “On the night of ?rd-4th October our patrols were active on all sectors. On the same night torpedo-carrying aircraft scored a direct hit on the centre of a medium-sized vessel in a southbound enemy convoy in the lonian Sea. One fighter aircraft was lost in the defence of Malta.”—8.0. W.
