DRINKING BY WOMEN IN HOTELS
SUGGESTIONS BY PREMIERS’ CONFERENCE (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) Melbourne, This Day. The abolition of all mixed drinking in hotel lounges and granting permission for women to drink in hotel lounges especially reserved for them were urged by Commonwealth representatives at the State Premiers’ Conference yesterday. It was also suggested that hotels be compelled tc close two hours each afternoon and that drastic penalties be imposed for serving liquor to inebriated servicemen.— P.A.
