It was then taken overseas; it was used as a dinner bell on the ship on the way to the Middle East, and throughout the siege of Tobruk. It also saw service in Palestine and in 1 Syria, on the Turkish border. The bell was stolen by the Libyan natives and recovered. It was buried i in a desert sandstorm and found again, i and finally taken from Tobruk to Alexi andria on a destroyer. !
