£1,000,000 A DAY CANBERRA, This Day.—Australia is spending more than £1,000,000 a day on the war, announces the Com monwealth Treasury. At the present rate Australia will spend £376,000,000 on the war this fiscal year, as compared with £319,000,000 last year. Next year the expenditure will be more than £400,000,000.—P.A. FATAL FALL FROM WINDOW AUCKLAND, This Day.—-A man aged 28, Maurice Oliver Braddock. fell from a fifth storey window in an Elliott street building at 9 o’clock this morning and died in an ambul ance on his way to hispital. He was a stranger to the staff in the building from where he fell. For some weeks he had been an inmate of an Auckland hospital. His wife and child reside in Grey Lynn.— P. A.
