INTERCESSION
Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trustelh in Thee Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting st* :ngth. (Isaiah xxvi: 2-4.) Eternal God we humbly thank Thee for the way in which Thou hast blessed and guided our Empire until now. We praise Thee for the measure of righteousness with which she has discharged her high trust and great responsibility throughout the world. But we confess with shame that there has been evil in our history, even now we are unworthy' to be called a Christian people. Purge that which is unrighteous, grant us the spirit of unselfish service, may the love of Christ be -d own forth among us. That, after trii bulation, Thy peace and favour may : rest upon us ever more.
