INCREASED EXPORTS AM IMPORTS PRODUCTION YEAR FIGURES Wellington, Aug. 8. Very substantial increases in both exports and imports are shown in the overseas trade figures for June, released yesterday by the Customs Department. Substantial increases arc also shown for both exports and imports for the six months of the current year, and for the production year which ended on 30th June. Exports during June totalled £11.026,000. compared with £5.702,000 in June, 1941, an increase of £5.324,000. Imports fur the month amounted to £5.702,000. against £3.083.000 in June, 1941, an increase of £2.019.000. The favourable trade balance for the month was £5.324.000, against £1.630,000 in June, 1941. For the first six months of 1942 exports totalled £43.271.000, compared with £36.657,000 for the same period of 1941, an increase of £6,560.000. Imports for the six months were £24.268.000 against £22.057.000 for 1941, an increase of £2.211.000. The favourable trade balance of £18.949.000, was £4.349.000 higher than for the same period of 1941. Im ports totalled £51.378.000. against £45,185.U0U. an increase of £6,193,000, leaving a favourable trade balance of £22,661.000, against £19.581.000 for the 194041 season, an increase of £3.080.000.
