LIGHTS AT WAR MEMORIAL

Mr K. H. Boyd, speaking as a warden, considered that to be in conformity with existing lighting restrictions within the borough the lights at the war memorial should be disconnected, The Mayor explained that the lights in question were shaded similar to the street lights, and being on the same circuit were extinguished with the street lights. The memorial had, he said, been re-lit at the request of the Returned Services’ Association. Mr Rowling thought there was nc particular reason, under existing circumstances. why the lights at the memorial should not be disconnected. The chairman staled that the Borough Council would be guided by a recommendation from the E.P.S. meet. On the motion of Dr. Green and Mr Rowling, it was decided to forward tc the Borough Council a recommendation that the lights at the memorial be cut off.
