COMMITTEE PASSES THE £2OOO MARK I OR THE | YEAR A special meeting of the Takaka Patriotic Controlling Committee was held recently, when it was decided to hold a collection of waste materials on Saturday. 15 th August, any profits to go to patriotic funds. Rubber, bottles, metals, clean paper and card board in any quantity is urgently required. Paper includes ! books, periodicals, old books, and news- ] papers of all kinds. Lorries will make a district call on Saturday. If wet the , call will be made on the first fine Saturday afternoon. Residents are asked to have the various kinds of waste sorted into separate containers-, bags or sacks, if possible. Paper can be securely j tied with rope. Waste must be placed at the cream stand or front gate, whichever is nearer the road and must be ready when the lorry calls. A depot has been ararnged at the Star garage and any contributions may be left there. The treasurer reported that the Takaka total for the year to date had reached £2017 16s 3d.
