FAST MILE ‘

AUSTRALIAN BEATS HAEGG’S TIME Sydney, July 27. George Campbell. 19-year-old Sydney athlete, has been timed to run the mile |in 4mm 3sec. This is 3 l-ssec faster j than the world record established by i Gunnar Haegg at Stockholm a fortnight i ago. j Campbell’s time cannot be acecpted as a record. The Sydney sportsman Mr George Nathan has offered to guarantee Campbell’s expenses for a trip to America to meet the world’s best in races for patriotic purposes. Campbell holds the State native record of 4min 18 2-9 sec for the j mile.—Special Australian P.A. Corres--1 pondent.
