ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO
A NELSON CHRONOLOGY 14th June, 1842: At a public meeting held in the Survey Office. Mr Young laid before the committee a memorial prepared by Mr Tuckett. In this the directors were requested to allow the interest of such portion of the Coliege Fund as had already been raised, to be applied to the general support of elementary schools. A committee was appointed to secure signatures to the memorial.—“ Nelson Examiner.” Duppa is landing his cattle at the Waimea as there is no wind and he prefers keeping them apart from other stock.—Letter, A.
