Miiv ur li\/\ l iuiij ON CONSIDERABLE SCALE (Rec. 10 a m.) Rugby, June 12 ; An R.A.F. Middle East Command j communique states: “Yesterday air! operations in the forward area in’! Cyrenaica continued on a considerable j scale. Enemy motorised units in the Knightsbridge area were heavily j bombed, while further west, targets at* Jalo and Antelat were attacked. In j the Acroma region a fighter aircraft | shot down two Messerschmitt 109’s. It! is known that a further JU 87 was destroyed on operations on Wednesday. “The Italian naval base at Taranto was again bombed on Wednesday night and large fires started in the dock- : yards. The same night objectives at 1 Crete were raided. For the 24 hours ending mid-day yesterday, our fighter aircraft had destroyed over Malta two MElo9’s, one Macchi 202. one RE 2001 and one BR 20. Four of our aircraft are missing. Three pilots previously reported missing are now known to be safe.”—B.O.W.
