TOTALS SINCE WAR BEGAN ! c Rugby, Feb. 11. J j The Air Secretary stated in the I | House of Commons that the total losses j 1 jof R.A.F.. German and Italian air- t j craft, excluding losses in Russia for r i the period September, 1939, to De- j - cember, 1941, were: R.A.F. 3981: enemy 1 | 8559. The German losses during the | j period were 6440, and the Italian 2119.1 | Enemy aircraft not definitely iden-1 ; tified as German have been included in j [the Italian figures. The enemy lossesM included aircraft destroyed by the J Free French air force, but not those j J accounted for by naval aircraft and j r 'the guns of His Majesty’s ships and J ; merchant vessels. The Free French losses were not in- r eluded in figures for the R.A.F. The highest German and R.A.F.! monthly losses were both sustained in j September. 1940. during the Battle of ! Britain, when the Germans lost 1136 J machines and the R.A.F. 389. Mr A. V. Alexander, First Lord | p of the Admiralty, said recently that up to December, 1941, the Fleet Air p Arm, warships, and merchant ships y destroyed 642 Axis planes, with 240 , probables.—B.O.W. \
