THE HOLIDAYS

One clay I went pea-picking and 1 have been for swims 100. I have been helping mother with the garden as well. We went to town and to Richmond, and while we were at Richmond we gathered ergot. When Ken and I go for the j cows at night we gather blackberries, i Tfyere are quite a lot about now. We had a lot of fun when we went peapicking. We had picked so many buckets that we went down to the river for a paddle. While we were playing in the water a big black thing came after Ray’s toes. He let out a squeal I and said something was coming after him. Shirley and I soon hopped out. Mother told us after that it was an eel. i Weren't we lucky to get out before it jgot us? I have five marrows ! on the marrow plants.—Barbara Ilollis, Foxhill.
