MINING SCHOLARSHIPS
Wellington, Tibs Day. The following candidates were successful at the competitive examination conducted last year among students of schools of mines in New Zealand for the scholarships which are offered annually by the Mines Department:—P. R. S. Miller, Dunedin School of Mines —awarded a scholarship of an annual value of £45. J. F. A. Taylor, Dunedin School of Mines —awarded a scholarship of an annual value of £45. R. S. Prout, who obtained a partial pass in 1940. completed the examination, and has been awarded a scholarship of an annual value of £65. In August the annual value of the scholarships was increased to £65 in the case of students who, while attending the classes at the University of Otago, have to reside away from their homes, and to £45 in the case of students who are able to reside at home while attending the University classes. —P.A.
