WEDDING

FRY—HEWITT St. Thomas Church, Motueka. was the scene of a pretty wedding on 13th December, when Joy, third daughter of Mr and Mrs N. A. Hewitt, Riwaka, was married to Errol, younger son of Mr ana Mrs A. E. Fry, Motueka. The wedding was of unusual interest as the bridegroom is the first returned soldier of this war, to be married in the district. The church was effectively decorated, by friends of the bride, with Christmas lilies and delphiniums. Rev. W. A. Beaumont performed the ceremony and Miss Diana Green played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful slim-fitting gown of white satin with high neckline and long sleeves pointed over the hands, the trained skirt being gathered at the back to give a bustle effect. A coronet of white orchids held in place the veil of embroidered tulle, lent by a friend, and she carried a bouquet of white roses. In attendance were two bridesmaids. Miss Rachel Hewitt, sister of the bride, and Miss Bessie Teece. Both wore frocks of delphinium blue georgette, fashioned in Grecian style, and short blue veils with haloes of b.'ue gardenias. They carried bouquets of delphiniums. Mr S. Newport was best man and Mr A. Smith groomsman. Miss D. Green sang, “I Walk Beside* 1 You.” After the ceremony a reception was held in the Masonic Hall where Mr ani Mrs Hewitt and Mr and Mrs Fry received the guests numbering 70. Mrs Hewitt was attired in a nevy and white ensemble with shoulder spray of white roses, and a navy and white hat. Mrs Fry wore a navy bolero suit with hat to tone and a shoulder spray of dark red carnations. The tables were decorated with red. white and blue flowers and the New Zealand flag was draped on the wall behind the bridal party. Mr K. J. Holyoake acted as toastmaster. , Following the toast list. Miss Bessie Teece sang. "The Close of a Long. Long Lk y" and “I’ll Pray for You.” Mr Bert Reeve being the accompanist. The bride travelled in a grey suit with navy accessories. Their future heme will be in Wellington.
