CARDEN PARTY | A very successful garden party, i organised by the Presbyterian Church] [Ladies’ Guild, was held on Saturday, at I the residence ol’ Mr and Mrs E. Stillwell, Poole street. Although (he day j was dull and showery a large number of church members and visitors from Braeburn and Riwaka attended and enjoyed afternoon tea served on the lawn in pleasant surroundings. The various stalls were well patronised; and the proceeds from this effort will con- > siderably augment the church funds. Stalls and stallholders were:—Produce, Mesdames J. A. McGlashen and Desaunais; cakes, Mesdames J. Sather- [ icy and P. Craig; work, Mrs W. Drummond; sweets, Misses H. Douglas and N. McGlashen: flowers, Mrs G. Burk. Afternoon tea arrangements were in Die hands of Mesdames J. Brough, It. J Rowling, J. Thomson, R. Smith, D. Muir and A. H. Eddie. , In the competitions a box of short- j j bread was won by Miss I. McGlashen, a | fruit cake by Mr C. Congdon, a toy | [elephant by Mr J. T. Brough and a j rabbit mascot by Miss I. McGlashen. J j Thanks were extended to Mr and i • Mrs Stilwell for the use of their beauti- I ful grounds and to the members of the {Ladies’ Guild, who had worked so hard I i throughout the year and also prior to j and at the garden party in order to I i help the church financially.
