1 ITALIAN FORCES HARASSED i j S.A.A.F. BOMB CONCENTRATIONS - j (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) Rugby, Oct. 27. * j A joint communique issued by the i | Command and Air headquarters of East 1 Africa states: “Offensive patroLs by our 2 ground forces yesterday drew fire from enemy forward positions on the Gondar-Asmara road. We suffered no casualties. Patriot forces continue to harass the enemy in the whole of the Gondar area and three more chiefs from inside the Italian lines have come over to our side and others have announced their intention of joining us. ” The S.A.A.F. continued its operations 2 against the enemy in the Gondar area ” on 25th October. A motor transport 3 and a large concentration of tents south of Gondar were successfully bombed ar.d machine-gunned.” A communique issued at Nairobi I from the East African air headquarters * ! states: “The South African Air Force ~ j continued operations in the Gondar area 1 j on 23rd and 24th October. Trenches 1 were bombed and a heavy anti-aircraft 1 position silenced. On 24th October a CR 42 was shot down in flames by a 1 S.A.A.F. fighter pilot. All our planes - returned safely.”
