LEASE-LEND FUND

5,985,000,000 DOLLAR BILL PASSES SENATE Washington, Oct. 23. Senate adopted by 59 votes to 13 and sent to the House of Representatives the 5.985,000,000 dollar LendLease Bill, bringing the total lendlease funds to 13 billion dollars. Senate inserted a proviso that lend-lease funds are not to be allowed to purchase agricultural or industrial commodities produced outside the United States. The Secretary of the Interior, Mr Ickes, announced that Britain is returning 40 tankers, which the United States loaned, for which reason all restrictions on the use of gasoline on the East Coast are lifted.—U.P.A.
