MEETING ON WEDNESDAY NELSON CLUB OPENS SEASON The Nelson Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club opens its 1941-42 season with a meeting at Trafalgar Park on Wednesday evening next at C3O p.m. when all intending and visiting athletes and cyclists are invited to participate. This season promises to be the most important in the club's history. There will be the usual contest here In December against Marlborough for the Hester Shield, while, on 31st January, 1942, a specially big meeting combinifig the Mahar Cup (Seddon Shield district) competition and a Nelson Cen. tennial meeting will provide an attractive programme for both spectators and competitions. In addition Nelson has applied to the Wellington Centre for the Provincial Championships to be staged here during the autumn. The programme for Wednesday is (All short limit handicaps): (1) Broad jump: (2) 50yds ladies; (3) 100yds jun; 141 100yds senior; (5) boys’ cycle; (6) half mile cycle; (7) boys’ races; (8) girls' races; (9) 880yds; GO) 75yds Indies; ill) 220yds junior; (12) 220yds senior: (13) three mile cycle; (14) shot putt; (15) mixed relays.
