IDLE AGAIN

Idle on Monday because of the dismissal of a trucker, the Strongman s State Mine was idle again to-day because of some of the men taking excep•s tion to the fact that their pay had been 0 docked for time lost on the day of the e last quarterly cavil, Thursday, 10th - October. r Only shiftmen and truckers were afe fected by the docking, but their decision to return home when they rets ceived their pay dockets this morning, y disclosing that they were not paid for n time lost, idled the mine, about 150 men .- being affected. n On cavil day it is an established practice for miners to leave early and - for shiftmen and truckers to carry on n the shift. For some time men other ■- than miners have been leaving the k ' Strongman mine early o n cavil day, y ' but no official notice has been taken s : of it. However, on the last cavil day s j the number was so great—between 20 , r ! and 30—that the management had no d j option but to take action and have the d | pay of the men concerned docked for 0 The men received their pay dockets j this morning before being paid to-mor- ._ row, and when it was found that the ! lost time had not been credited to v ! them they decided to return home.
