ITALIAN PROPOSAL
EXCHANGE OF PLANES FOR FOODSTUFFS SERIOUS FOOD SHORTAGE ADMITTED Admitting a serious food shortage, Italy has approached Turkey with a proposal that Italian planes be exchanged for Turkish foodstuffs, reports the ‘Exchange Telegraph's” Ankara correspondent. Turkey demanded that Italy deliver fighters and bombers equivalent in standard to the British planes, but Italy replied that only second-hand Capronis were available, after which Turkey broke off the negotiations.—U.P.A.
