BY PUBLIC MEN AND PRESS TORPEDOING OF SHIPS REPEAL OF NEUTRALITY ACT ALMOST CERTAIN (Rec. 11.50 am.) New York, Oct 22 American public men and press are demanding action following the torpedoing of two more United States’ ships. The executive committee of the Fight for Freedom adopted a resolution calling for some high and clear voice to raise itsell above the "Tower of Babel," that is, Washington, and cry out and declare war on Nazi Germany. “Only Washington seems to be unaware that we are in a war to the death. The time has come to throw off all pretence that a real crisis over national life has come,” added the resolution. RED CROSS CERTIFICATE QUEEN MAKES PRESENTATION TO 74 MEMBERS (Rec. 10.45 a.m.) Rugby, Oct. 22. The Queen to-day presented the new British Red Cross certificate for distinguished war service to 74 of the Society’s members who earned award by devoted service or acts of gallantry.
