TRANSPORT WORK OF E.P.S.

TAKEN OVER BY HOME GUARD MAYOR OF DUNEDIN’S CRITICISM Dunedin, This Day. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Automobile Association last evening, the Mayor. Mr Allen expressed surprise at reading that the transport work of the E.P.S. was to be taken over by the Home Guard. He said that he could not imagine any Government Department offering such a slight to the controllers as to publish such a decision v'ithout first discussing it or at least giving notice to make the change. It was a slight on those who had worked so hard for three years and also to the city corporation which had gone to much expense. Mr Allen remarked later that one impediment to the work of the section had been Government dilatoriness in supplying facilities. —P.A.
