ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO TO-DAY
A NELSON CHRONOLOGY September 10th, 1841: Colonel William Wakefield requested the Governor, Captain Hobson, to point out a site for the Second Colony (Nelson) which would provide at least 200,000 acres and a port. He mentioned Lord John Russell’s mission to choose the site outside the area of the Company’s purchases. Parliamentary Papers. 1842. Pages 156-7
