JAPANESE REPRISALS
BRITISH FIRMS IN NORTH CHINA CLOSE WATCH BY BRITAIN (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) Rugby, Aug. G. The Foreign Secretary, Mr Anthony Eden, in a Parliamentary reply said that some interference with British firms in North China had resulted from the action taken by the Japanese by way of reprisal for the freezing of Japanese assets by Britain. He had information indicating that no property belonging to any British firm had Teen seized but the situation was being closely watched by local British authorities. —B.O. W.
