EXTENSION IN RUSSIA A N NOE N< EM ENT EXPEC TE D SOON REPRESENTATIONS BY BRITISH CHURCHES (Rec. 9.55 a.m.) London, Aug 5. It is understood that M. Maisky, the Soviet Ambassador in London, will make an important announcement soon regarding the extension of religious freedom in Russia. According to the “Daily Sketch,” representatives of British religious bodies, including the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, privately approached the Soviet Embassy seeking assurances on the Soviet’s attitude towards religion which would be needed before they were able to wholeheartedly support the Soviet alliance. M. Maisky received the representations sympathetically and consulted with Moscow. The “Express” reports that AT. Mai sky has been invited to join the St. James’s Club. Piccadilly, the world's most famous diplomatic club—U.P.A.
