ARBOR DAY IN NELSON
COMMEMORATED TO-DAY ACTIVITIES OF SCHOOL CHILDREN Arbor Day was celebrated in Nelson to-day with the planting of trees and shrubs by pupils of various school*, while at the Majestic Theatre thL merning Mr W. C. Davies repeated h£ illustrated address on plant and forest life, for the benefit of secondary school pupils. This afternoon Auckland Point school children planted shrubs and trees on Britannia Heights near the old flagstaff site St. -Joseph’s and Sacred Heart College pupils will plant shrubs in the native sect’m of the Botanical Reserve to-morrow alternoon. Planting operations in their own grounds have also been arranged for the Hampden Street School and Nelson Colleges. The Girl Guides have undertaken the planting of suitable trees at the Maitai Reserve.
