AT REVOLVER POINT

WELLINGTON TAXI-DRIVER t ROBBED v Wellington, Aug. 4. A Wellington taxi-driver, Mr William Magee, was held up at the point of a i revolver on Saturday night and robbed ' by a man whom he had driven from the city to Lyall Bay. Mr Magee, who drives for Wellington Taxis and lives at 17 Parliament \ street, was approached on his stand . opposite tlie Public Library about 7.30 ‘ p.m. by a man of about 27 to 32 years. It is understood that the driver also had' some notes in his possession, but be- , fore the thief could get these, some men approached with the intention of, hailing the taxi and the man made off, i leaving the bludgeon. The police are investigating. There have not been many robberies of this nature in Wellington, but the manager of a Wellington taxi company said one of his drivers had been beaten up by two sailors in February and had been taken to hospital with a broken iaw ■—P.A
