ATKINS DISQUALIFIED IN BOLT WITH MEEHAN Wellington, Tins Day In one of the wildest and most sensa tional all-in wrestling contests eve? seen in a Wellington ring. Pat Meehan • Canada) beat Fred Atkins (Australia before a fair-sized house at the Town Hall last night. The Australian proved himself a real “bad man*' of the ring and was warned repeatedly for using strangleholds, knee-jolting, and punch ing. Meehan was more than willing to mix it. Atkins took the first fall with a series of heavy jolts and a dump and bodvpress in the fourth round, and Meehan evened with a body-press in the sixth round. The seventh round had lasted only linin 30sec when the Australian was disqualified for discarding wrestling for boxing. After Atkins had driven two straight lefts to Meehan’s face, the referee had no option but to disqualify him and award the contest to Meehan The Australian was. however, by tin lime only warming up to his work. He rushed at the Canadian and aimed a rouple of right swings at him. Mehan iccepted the challenge, and dropped •he Australian with a well-placed right :o the side of the head.
