COLLINGWOOD RUGBY
JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE MATCH ON SATURDAY j Collingwood and Takaka played to •a draw —3-ali—in a junior Rugby representative match at the Recreation ' Ground, Collingwood, on Saturday. Play | was somewhat scrappy, chiefly through i Takaka being able to field only 12 j players. Of the Takaka players selected i several were suffering from measles | and others were unable to make the trip. Collingwood were unfortunate not to gain a win. Their forwards hooked the ball from the set scrums on the majority of occasions and had the better of their opponents in the line-outs. The backs handled fairly well, but seemed to lack the finish which would have made all the difference to the score. Takaka fought an uphill fight with gameness and determination and did well to hold Collingwood to a draw. Up to half-time there was no score, but in the second spell each side gained a try. Collingwood's try came when, with the forwards pressing Takaka hard, the ball was kicked into the hands ,of the Collingwood full-back (B. | Riley), who cut round to outpace the I opposition and touch down wide out. A few minutes before time was called, the Takaka full-back (A. Small) scored in similar circumstances. Mr B. Annear refereed.
