FREEDOM OF INVERNESS SIMILAR HONOUR AT BIRTHPLACE (Rec. 9.55 a.m.) London. Aug. 3. The presentation to Mr Fraser. Prime 1 1 Minister of New Zealand, of the free- ' dom of Inverness included the right of placing a gold ring on the third linger of the left hand symbolising that he * was wedded to the town and its affairs. 1 The Provost performed the freedom ceremony in the largest city theatre, which was crowded. 1 Mr Fraser, replying, surveyed New 1 Zealand's progress of the war effort and also eulogised the fine qualities of the » j Maoris and the part they were playing. Mr Fraser opened new Y.M.C.A. ; buildings for the forces. Mr Fraser has gone to hi< birthplace | •'"earn, where he is receiving the free- * dt m of the town.—U P.A.
