"PUBLIC DEB . No. I"
A girl whose beauty encompasses the loveliness of all of America's fairest women, Brenda Joyce comes into her own in the title role of Elsa Maxwell’s “Public Deb No. 1.” As a spoiled rich girl who. under the influence of her phoney Russian butler, turns a gilded 'Red” and is soundly spanked into line by a broke but brash young man, in the person of George Murphy Brenda has an opportunity to prove that she not only has more glamour than the screen has shown for
many a day, but also that she is a light comedienne of no small merit. A graduate of Los Angeles high school, she spent one semester at the University of Southern California, and three at the University of California in Los Angeles before becoming a photographer's model. Zanuck chanced to see her picture in a magazine. He signed her to a long-term contract Gene Markey was associated producer and Gregory RatofT directed.
