“THE LADY IN QUESTION"
'n what has been hailed as a delightful comedy romance. Brian Aherne and Rita Hayworth are co-starred in Columbia’s “The Lady in Question.” The new film has been hailed as refreshingly different for the manner in which the co-stars- perform. Aherne, one of the handsomest leading men on the screen to-day, departs from custom to appear in his first straight character role. Miss Hayworth. one of the screen’s most glamorous stars, similarly deserts her glamour roles to appear as an attractive, albeit plainly-dressed young woman who is the centre of a terrific domestic storm. Accused of murder, she is acquitted by a jury after she wins the sympathies of the middle-aged bicycle shop proprietor. In a generous moment. he asks her to call upon him if she ever needs help . . and she does! The girl winds up helping in the shop, living with the family, falling in love with the son and unwittingly stealing from the daughter her own boy friend. In addition to these several complications, she is suspected by the shopkeeper’s own wife. Through it all. her warm-hearted benefactor moves with increasing stupefaction, unable to understand how and why his good turn should create so much of a furore.
