A Letter from Alice...

WHITE RABBIT'S COUSIN APPEARS Dear Boys and Girls, Wednesday was tar too beautiful a day to sit in front of o typewriter in the office, so it was with light hearts thot Alice and White Rabbit made their way down to the Port, where the dinghy was waiting. Over ot the lighthouse, crouching over o large driftwood fire. White Rabbit confessed that he really shouldn't be there as a cousin of his had sent a message to soy he was coming to see him. 'He says he has some news, but I suppose it's only to soy that another of my nephews has won o competition for eating the most Then later, when both Alice and White Rabbit were each eating a grilled chop in their fingers and sipping boiling billy tea, there was a scatter along the Boulder Bank, and a little figure was seen racing along, scoftering stones with each step. As it came nearer, White Rabbit gave a gasp, "Jimmy Rabbit, my cousin, well I do declare!" and he stuffed the last of his chop in his mouth before Jimmy decided he was hungry too. "Jimmy Rabbit, whatever ore YOU doing here," demanded Alice, who had met this mischievous young cousin of White Rabbit's before. ''l've come fo say goodbye. I've joined the Air Force, and I'm off to Canada to-morrow," puffed Jimmy proudly, and White Rabbit immediately lay on his back ond kicked his legs in the air. "I beg your pardon," stammered Alice os she took o quick gulp of tea, ond then spat it out again hurriedly while her mouth sizzled inside. (You know how hot billy tea con be!) "I BEG your pardon." ' Of course," politely replied Jimmy, and helped himself to a thick cheese sandwich, "I am going to be a mascot in the Air Force, and I am going to Canada to leorn to be one. And I've hod o great idea, Alice." "Well, I must soy I'm ready for anything now, but none of your silly brainwaves, please," Alice said a little doubtfully. "I thought perhaps I could be useful to your Wonderland Page," and Alice pricked up her eors. "Seeing thot I hove inherited my cousin's literary ability" (here White Rabbit pricked up his eors too > . "I thought perhaps I could write articles to the Page about Canada, and the children there, and the trees, ond Canadian sunsets, ond oil about Canada, and where I go. Don't you think that's a good idea?" Why, Jimmy, I think that's wonderful, and I take back oil the nasty things I said about you," was Alice's onswer as she jumped up and poured Jimmy a cup of tea, ond govc him the resf of her chop, while White Rabbit patted him on the bock so much that he nearly choked. So Jimmy Rabbit is going to write to us from Canada, ond if you want to know anything about Canadian children or Canadian life, Jimmy will be ever so pleased to answer your letters. Of course they will take some time to get there ond then bock to the Wonderland Page, where they will be printed, but if you care to address your letters to him care of Alice at the "Mail" Office, you will get an onswer in due course. With love from your friend, ALICE.
