NELSON TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD The social committee of the Nelson Townswomen’s Guild held another most enjoyable 500 flag card party in the Marsden Hall library recently. The large number of tables engaged was most gratifying to the committee who are raising money for soldiers’ parcels One hundred and forty-four parcels were sent at Christmas time to the men overseas. Already forty-three soldiers who each received one of these parcels have w'ritten expressing thanks and telling the committee just how much the men appreciated the contents of the well-thought-out parcels. Later in the evening a tasty supper was served, after which Mrs Randolph Neale presented the first prizes to Mesdames Graham, Pellew, Mr Doidge and partner The consolation prizes went to Mesdames A. B. Walker, McArthur, Mr and Mrs Neale. The travelling prize changed owners considerably during the evening and was won by Mrs Cullen and Mr Benseman. Mr J. Holmes carried out the duties of M.C The next card party will be held on Wednesday next at 7.45 p.m. The room will be heated and the committee will welcome all who are desirous of helping this worthy cause.
